Call for papers (n. 94, 2027)
«Il Castello di Elsinore» invites original submissions for issue 94, scheduled for publication in June 2027. The issue will include a special section entitled Dario Fo: A Phenomenon without Borders, between Historiography and Interdisciplinarity, edited by Rita Maria Fabris (University of Bologna), Bent Holm (University of Copenhagen), and Matteo Paoletti (University of Bologna).
Scholars are invited to submit original contributions that examine the Dario Fo phenomenon from a historiographical perspective, moving beyond hagiographic approaches.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- analyses of Dario Fo’s theatrical, musical, and literary works within their historical, political, and cultural contexts;
- studies of how Dario Fo’s legacy has been historicized and transmitted;
- archival research into periods of Dario Fo’s career that have received limited scholarly attention (for example, the years immediately following the Second World War or the early 1970s);
- interdisciplinary approaches exploring, for example, the connections between Dario Fo’s work and television history, music history, communication theory, etc.
The deadline for submitting articles is November 15, 2026
Articles must be submitted in Word format (.doc/.docx) and sent by email to the editorial address ilcastellodielsinore@unibo.it. The text should be between 25.000 and 60.000 characters including spaces. The journal accepts contributions in Italian, English and French. A dozen articles will be accepted.
All articles must comply with the editorial guidelines set out at https://ilcastellodielsinore.unibo.it/about/submissions and must be accompanied by an abstract (maximum 800 characters, including spaces) in Italian and English, a curriculum vitae of the author (maximum 600 characters, including spaces) in Italian and English, and 5 keywords in English.
«Il Castello di Elsinore» employs a double-blind peer review process.
Some of the articles included in the special section will be based on papers presented at the conference held at the University of Bologna on April 15, 2026, entitled Dario Fo: A Phenomenon without Borders. Celebrating the Centenary of Dario Fo’s Birth (1926–2026) and curated by Bent Holm (University of Copenhagen), Rita Maria Fabris (University of Bologna), and Matteo Paoletti (University of Bologna).
