La Compagnia Nazionale Ruggeri, Borelli, Talli: un esperimento di teatro a finanziamento pubblico (1921-1923)

Abstract

Between 1921 and 1923 Italy knows its first experience of public founding in dramatic theatre since Unity of the country. It deals with the birth and activity of a National Company, a theatrical society consisting of Virgilio Talli, Ruggero Ruggeri and Alda Borelli, three of the most interesting personalities in the early Twentieth century Italian theatre. Starting from articles, rewiews, letters, business correspondence and documents related to the establishement of the Ruggeri Borelli Talli’s Company, the essay reconstructs its productions and relationships with audience and critics, in order to explain its failure in the traditional Italian stage practise.
