Abstract

The aim of this essay is to present, through an organised exegesis of the trilogy Paesaggio con fratello rotto (Landscape with Broken Brother), Gualtieri and Ronconi's system of communication-representation, centring the focus of the investigation on the use of the actors' bodies: devices conceived ad hoc to constitute artificial and artificial objective correlatives of pain and risk (understood as a cogent and perceptively irremediable event), on which, however, the great instance of the hope of joy, of the cry of beauty, stirs. Mariangela Gualtieri's new 2021 edition of Paesaggio con fratello rotto (Landscape with Broken Brother) published by Einaudi gives us (after the first edition in 2007, published by Sossella) a great meta-aesthetic and meta-human reflection on a world in the balance, exposed to the loss of its vital pneuma, its wildness. It is the bodies of the actors, the simulacra of dreams, pain and magic, that have been given the task of generating catharsis and representing risk and its overcoming, the redemption of offended humanity
