Roberto Alonge, ordinario in quiescenza (per quanto poco quieto) di Storia del Teatro dell’Università di Torino, insegna attualmente Letterature Comparate presso la stessa Università, come professore a contratto. Ha scritto una trentina di libri, pubblicati dai principali editori italiani (Einaudi, Laterza, Garzanti, Mondadori, Rizzoli, Carocci, Olschki, ecc.), oltre a un pamphlet intitolato Asini calzati e vestiti. Lo sfascio della scuola e dell’Università dal ’68 a oggi (Torino, Utet, 2005), dedicando diversi volumi a Goldoni, Pirandello, Ibsen. Ha diretto la Storia del teatro moderno e contemporaneo (2000-2003) di Einaudi e ha fondato nel 1988 la rivista teatrale “Il castello di Elsinore”, che dirige tuttora. Il suo ultimo libro: Discesa nell’inferno familiare. Angosce e ossessioni nel teatro di Pirandello, Utet/Università, Torino 2018.

Abstract

The essay takes its cue from the important notes of Claude Bourqui about the existence, in the Tartuffe, of a dense network of “dirty words”, obviously disguised, to put at the center of the comedy not the character of Tartuffe, but the couple of spouses in crisis. Elmira stages a very dangerous erotic game to find out who has become her husband, who neglects her, interested only in Tartuffe. A contemporary reading of the work, as when a broken couple enters a libertine club, during a soirée trio. The title alludes to the fact that the statue of Molière, in Paris, is 30 meters away from the most exclusive libertine club in the French capital, Les Chandelles.
