Founded in 1988, Il castello di Elsinore is a scientific journal of theatre and performing arts. It is currently divided into four sections: Saggi (Essays), Materiali (Materials), Recensioni (Reviews) and Dossier. The topics it covers embrace the entire history of European and non-European performing arts. Its target audience is primarily specialists in the field: scholars and artists.

Call for papers (n. 94, 2027)

«Il Castello di Elsinore» invites original submissions for issue 94, scheduled for publication in June 2027. The issue will include a special section entitled Dario Fo: A Phenomenon without Borders, between Historiography and Interdisciplinarity, edited by Rita Maria Fabris (University of Bologna), Bent Holm (University of Copenhagen), and Matteo Paoletti (University of Bologna).
